Traditional Faith Formation

The Traditional Faith Formation Program at Annunciation Catholic Church is designed as a traditional in-class experience for those children in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. The program is an integrated curriculum that consists of the Catholic Catechism, Scripture, and Liturgical Experiences. Children are taught the tenets of the Roman Catholic faith and explore the many traditions of our faith during their weekly classes. Children begin preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in the 1st Grade and continue to grow in their faith and prepare for Confirmation through the 8th grade.

Program Requirements:
• You must be a registered Parishioner at Annunciation Catholic Church
• You must have regular Mass attendance and active in our Parish Community
• Regular attendance at weekly Faith Formation Classes
• Participation in the annual Learning about L.I.F.E. This is a family-based parish program which guides parents in talking to their own children in an age-appropriate manner about relationships, character development and abuse.
• During Sacramental Preparation Years (2nd and 8th Grade) parent catechism meetings are required. Specific dates/ times are included on the program calendar

The Traditional Faith Formation Program at Annunciation Catholic Church is designed as a traditional in-class experience and students are given a textbook which is kept in the classroom for the year and sent home on the last session. All books, supplies and materials are provided for each grade level.

Kindergarten is only offered on Sunday during the 10:00 am Mass and is held in our parish Preschool building. We utilize the Allelu! Series for Kindergarten which introduces weekly Gospel readings and liturgical seasons to the children.

1St Grade – 8th Grade is offered on Wednesdays @ 6:00 pm until 7:15 pm and classes are held in our parish school Children begin preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in the 1st Grade and or during their first year of Faith Formation and receive the sacraments in the 2nd grade or 2nd year of preparation. After receipt of these sacraments, children continue their faith journey through the 8th grade in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. If these times are not convenient with your family schedule, we offer the alternative of the Family of Faith Program

Sacramental Preparation classes are offered for those children participating in the Traditional Faith Formation program.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist: If your child participated in our Faith Formation Program last school year (either traditional classes or Family of Faith)      and is entering our 2nd-grade class, they are eligible to participate in Sacramental Preparation which is integrated into the weekly classes. Parents are also required to attend several parent-only catechism classes for each of these sacraments, please refer to the calendar for specific session dates/times.

Confirmation (8th Grade/ Year 1 Confirmation): Your child will enroll and actively participate in the Children’s Faith Formation Program. In addition, your child will be required to attend a fall parent/student meeting and complete Year 2 of Confirmation preparation in advance of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Sacramental Preparation Classes: If your child participated in our faith formation program last school year, (either traditional classes or Family of Faith) and is entering our 2nd-grade class, they are eligible to participate in the Sacramental Preparation Program. Your child should be enrolled and attending the Traditional Faith Formation program. Attendance in these weekly classes is required because all Sacramental prep sessions are integrated into these weekly classes. In addition, the parent will be required to attend Sacramental Preparation Classes before each sacrament. Please see below are the specific session times:
